The Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP) for AITS and Chief Information Officer (CIO) is charged with improving enterprise IT services and infrastructure delivered on the University’s campuses and to reduce the cost of delivering these services.
These efforts include investigating new service models, refining existing services, establishing performance measures, and advancing cooperation and coordination at the University of Illinois. The efforts are aimed at providing infrastructure and services to support the mission of the University.
The SAVP and CIO report to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Comptroller, Walter Knorr, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Christophe Pierre.
What's Happening Now - May 2013
The next Business Objects (BO) upgrade process was recently kicked off with a series of town hall meetings on each campus, as well as a presentation at the UIC IT Professionals Forum. This upgrade to BOXI 4.1 will shift to Web Intelligence Rich Client (Webi) as the primary reporting tool and Desktop Intelligence (Deski) reports will no longer be available. Webi and Deski are both report editors and contain similar features.
This project is a two-year project, which includes several different phases. The current phase, Deski User Conversion, is user specific and focuses on converting Desktop Intelligence (Deski) reports to Web Intelligence Rich Client (Webi) reports.
